Cosin Solar has been awarded the Second Prize for Invention Patent at the Zhejiang Provincial Intellectual Property Award for its patent “A Heliostat Frame, Heliostat and Heliostat Field Equipped with the Same,” as announced by the Zhejiang Administration for Market Regulation.

The award is the highest-level intellectual property honor established by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. The evaluation process covers patent quality, technological innovation, implementation benefits, and utilization and protection measures, targeting the “415X” advanced-manufacturing cluster and Zhejiang's modern industrial system.

The heliostat covered by this patent is core equipment for tower CSP plants. To address challenges such as strict manufacturing tolerance for mirror surface figure and complex assembly procedures, Cosin Solar developed automatic visual inspection, intelligent shim combination and automatic assembly technologies. These enable automatic forming of mirror surfaces, guaranteeing high-precision surface figure while streamlining assembly, improving production efficiency and product yield. The patent has been granted in the United States, Australia, South Africa, Chile and Saudi Arabia. Third-party tests confirm that heliostats built on this patented technology deliver core performance indicators exceeding industry standards and reaching internationally leading levels.

High-precision smart heliostats based on this patent have been deployed in more than ten CSP projects, including the Jinta Zhongguang 100MW project, the Three Gorges Qingyu-HVDC 100MW project, and the world's largest single-unit plant under construction — the Cosin Solar Golmud 350MW tower project. Total installed capacity of projects using this equipment now approaches 2 GW.

The award recognizes Cosin Solar's proprietary IP and industrialization capabilities. The company says it will continue to scale up R&D investment, expand its global patent portfolio, and support high-end manufacturing upgrades in Zhejiang and the national CSP industry.
