CGN Jixi Base 100MW CSP Plant on Successful Grid Connection
2026.06.29

The CGN Jixi Base 100MW CSP plant in Da'an, Jilin Province, entered commercial operation on June 29 — the first CSP plant in Northeast China and the country's northernmost to date.

The project is one of China's first batch of “wind-solar-thermal-storage” integrated demonstration projects in desert and Gobi areas. It uses tower molten-salt technology with 8 hours of thermal energy storage, enabling 24-hour stable operation. The heliostat field comprises 19,667 high-precision heliostats covering approximately 590,000 m², which track the sun and reflect sunlight to a 210-meter-high central receiver. The receiver converts solar energy into 565°C thermal energy stored in the molten-salt system.Once fully operational, the plant is expected to generate 180 million kWh annually, saving 54,000 tons of standard coal and reducing CO₂ emissions by 139,000 tons per year.

Cosin Solar provided the technical solution and equipment for the concentrating and heat collection system, as well as commissioning and operation guidance services. The project is located at 45.36°N in a frigid zone where temperatures can drop to -37.3°C and winds reach gale force 9, with saline-alkali geological conditions adding further challenges. Cosin Solar tailored its technology and equipment to these harsh conditions, successfully delivering critical systems and laying the foundation for the plant's smooth commissioning.

The plant's successful operation confirms the reliability and adaptability of Cosin Solar's concentrating and heat collection system under severe cold, high-wind and complex geological conditions. The company says it will continue advancing tower molten-salt CSP technology and cost optimization to support the clean-energy transition.
