Cosin Solar\'s Intelligent Operation Solution – Enabling Efficient Operation of the 100MW CSP Project in Jinta Under Complex Working Conditions
2026.04.14

Cosin Solar's self-developed intelligent operation solution for CSP plants has achieved breakthrough results in the 100MW CSP unit of the Jinta Zhongguang Solar ‘CSP+PV’ pilot project. In March 2026, under extreme adverse weather conditions including cloudy skies, rain, strong winds, and sandstorms, the plant delivered outstanding operational performance with a collected heat achievement rate of 114.56% and a power generation achievement rate of 109.47%. These real-world results have effectively addressed the operational challenges of CSP plants under complex working conditions, setting a benchmark for intelligent upgrades in the CSP industry.

The Jinta Zhongguang 100MW CSP plant was successfully connected to the grid on May 28, 2025, achieved full-process integration on July 10, and reached full-load operation with a single-day power generation exceeding 1000 MWh on July 21. To further increase output and enhance operational stability, the plant quickly deployed the intelligent operation solution for the solar field and receiver system. With the support of this intelligent system, the plant rapidly completed its performance ramp-up. In August and September 2025, power generation reached 14747.3 MWh and 15169.1 MWh respectively (with total DNI of 179.89 kWh/m² and 166.53 kWh/m²). Subsequently, in December 2025, the plant deployed the full-plant intelligent operation solution.

Notably, in March 2026, the project site experienced frequent cloudy, rainy, windy, and dusty conditions, providing a real-world ‘stress test’for Cosin Solar's intelligent operation solution. The total DNI for the month was only 118.34 kWh/m², with 23 cloudy days, 5 overcast days, and only 3 sunny days. Despite these challenging operating conditions, the plant delivered a performance exceeding expectations, thanks to the intelligent operation system. The actual monthly power generation reached 1060.84 MWh, with a collected heat achievement rate of 114.56% and a power generation achievement rate of 109.47% (the theoretical power generation is calculated based on actual measured meteorological data for the month, using conventional industry operation strategies and hour-by-hour simulation of manual operation mode). This fully demonstrates the core competitiveness of Cosin Solar's intelligent operation solution for CSP plants.

Breaking the Industry's Invisible Ceiling: From Operator Judgment to Intelligent Precision Decision-Making

For a long time, the CSP industry has faced a key bottleneck: under cloudy conditions, DNI fluctuates sharply, causing the solar field's energy input to behave like a‘roller coaster’. Meanwhile, localized cloud cover leads to significant differences in energy density received by different areas of the receiver. Under traditional operator control modes, plant safety is often prioritized at the expense of collected heat. While plants may meet design requirements on sunny days, both collected heat and power generation achievement rates drop significantly on cloudy days.

Addressing this common industry pain point, Cosin Solar has leveraged its deep expertise in tower CSP plant design, control strategies, and plant operation and maintenance. Using the vast, full-process, multi-condition operational data accumulated over years of actual operation at the Delingha 50MW CSP plant as input, the company has developed a self-developed full-plant intelligent operation solution for CSP plants. The key feature of this solution is that it no longer relies on operator judgment. Instead, it accurately identifies weather changes and automatically switches operation modes, dynamically and in real-time optimizing the solar field's reflected energy while ensuring equipment safety. This achieves full-process intelligent control from solar field and receiver to thermal storage and exchange, and finally to the power generation system, thoroughly solving the industry's long-standing challenge of balancing efficiency and safety under complex working conditions.

The intelligent operation solution for the solar field and receiver system integrates three core functions: one key start up, one key heat collection, and one key salt drainage. It enables intelligent precision control of solar field energy, molten salt flow, and temperature throughout the entire process of preheating, salt filling, operation, and salt drainage, significantly reducing operational complexity while greatly improving system reliability and solar resource utilization.

At the same time, the intelligent operation solution for the thermal storage, heat exchange, and power generation systems has achieved full-process intelligent control of start up, operation, and shutdown, as well as coordinated control between the thermal storage/exchange system and the power generation system. This significantly reduces operator workload and improves system operational reliability. Test data shows that the power generation load regulation error is less than 0.23% of rated capacity, enabling precise response to grid load dispatch requirements.

As a comprehensive provider of tower molten salt CSP solutions, Cosin Solar consistently creates value for customers through high-quality products and professional solutions. The operational performance of the Jinta 100MW CSP plant fully validates the advanced nature and effectiveness of Cosin Solar's intelligent operation solution.
